Now that summer is winding down and the beautiful clear skies might not be here for long, time to enjoy some of the amazing rooftops our capitol has to offer. There's no better way to take in the last few days of summer than sipping cocktails while gazing out over the entire city. Not sure where to go?

TALKOFDC.COM has you covered with a list of the best rooftop bars, which includes some hidden spots like newly opened W Hotel’s P.O.V and Beacon Sky Bar . I'm a big fan of The Donovan House rooftop pool area, but I have only been there for private events so you probably need to order more than just a drink to lounge in this space.

Not crazy about hotels and private parties, don’t worry some of D.C.’s  restaurants and lounges also have their own private gates to heaven with amazing views from their roof top terraces. Have a favorite that's not listed here? Leave your bar of choice in the comments section.

Point of View (POV), W Hotel 515 15th St. N.W.
POV takes the place of the old rooftop bar at Hotel Washington. The views are possibly the best in the city overlooking the mall and downtown DC.  In addition to the rooftop terrace, POV also includes an indoor ultralounge.

Donovan House Hotel
1155 14th St NW
Luxurious Rooftop Pool & Bar with views that span the entire city. *Must see!*

Beacon Sky Bar 1615 Rhode Island Ave NW
This popular hotel Sky Bar offers great views of Dupont, Embassy Row, and the DC Skyline. You’ll find unique martinis, cocktails, and light fare.

Reef 2446 18th St. NW This Spanish style rooftop is part bar, part restaurant with plenty of seating to enjoy dinner. The large U Shaped bar overlooks 18th street and is just one of many cool levels at Reef.

Public Bar
1214 18th St NW
Just recently opened, they gutted Five’s old rooftop and replaced with two bars, small cabanas, beautiful wood, flat screen TVs, and great drink specials – $3 Domestics, $4 Imports, $5 Rails 5-8pm.

Tabaq
1336 U Street NW.
This trendy upscale rooftop is open for Mediterranean style dining and cocktails 7 days a week. Weather have no fear as Tabaq’s retractable glass roof closes in minutes.  Being one of the most unique rooftop venues, Tabaq is hopping nightly with a great drink menu to please.

Vantage Point Rooftop Restaurant
1900 N. Fort Myer Drive
Arlington, VA 22216
Cleveland Park Bar and Grill
3421 Connecticut Avenue NW.
  Ardeo
3311 Connecticut Avenue NW.

Bourbon
2321 18th Street NW.

Straits of Malaya/Larry’s Lounge
1836 18th Street NW.

Marvin 2007 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C.
Local 16 1602 U St. NW, Washington, DC 20009

What better way to enjoy the weather with your friends and a nice cocktail in the summer than by venturing out to your favorite hotel, restaurant, lounge or bar. The next time you are looking for a new favorite outdoor activity, add rooftop lounging to the list at one of the swanky spots listed above.
