US Park Police arrested five people this weekend at the Jefferson Memorial.  The flash mob had gathered at the memorial to protest an appeals court ruling which prohibited dancing at the memorial "because it stands out as a type of performance, creating its own center of attention and distracting from the atmosphere of solemn commemoration."

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - As Michael Jackson's family continues to decide on his burial plans, one tough decision has apparently already been made -- he will be buried without his brain.
The London Daily Mail and several other outlets are reporting that the family had to make the grim choice of waiting up to three weeks for Jackson's brain to be returned to them or go ahead and bury him without it.
After performing an autopsy on the legendary singer, the Los Angeles Coroner's Office has kept the brain for additional neurological tests including ones to see what drugs he may have taken. But the examination reportedly cannot begin until at least two weeks after the death when the brain has hardened sufficiently to slice it open.
According to the Sunday Mirror , a source from the coroner's office said that removing the brain was "the only way to carry out the tests."
"The tissue has to be examined. I can't tell you how long that is going to take," he said.
A public memorial for Jackson will be held on Tuesday at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, and the family is planning a private event at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills at a later date.

Last night in Hyattsville, Md there was a pedestrian and bus accident at Belcrest Road and Queens Chapel Road (right by PG Mall).

A security guard at an Arlington strip mall is facing extortion charges for allegedly shaking down teenagers for money or merchandise, police said.

Octomom Nadya Suleman has officially signed a reality TV deal. The mom of 14 will allow cameras in for "birthdays and special events" only, reports the Hollywood Reporter, to be documented by 3Ball Prods. As of now, the reality show has yet to be sold to any American networks. Does this mean 14 is the new 'Plus 8'?

 Def Jam Music's Grammy Award Winning Artist, Chrisette Michele, Honors Over 60 Mom's For Mother's Day

ATLANTA - (April 25, 2009) - Grammy Award winner, Ne-Yo and The Compound Foundation announced plans to host the 2nd Annual Mother's Day brunch and serenade themed "Sunday Brunch at the Opera," to honor metro-Atlanta foster mothers. The event is being held to encourage, celebrate and reward these mothers for all that they do each and every day. This special invite only brunch will be held on Sunday, May 10th, 2009 at the Opera Events Facility from 2pm-4pm in Atlanta. The event will highlight wellness and self-care through the partnership of Zen Massage, a local spa franchise in Atlanta.

Joining in on the mission to help children in foster care is Ne-Yo's Def Jam label mate Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Chrisette Michele. With her new album scheduled for release on May 5, 2009, Chrisette will perform tracks from her upcoming album, Epiphany. Chrisette's mother Linette Payne was a foster mom for many years prior to taking on the role of Chrisette's manager. "We asked Chrisette, not only because of her beautiful voice, but because she is someone who personally understands issues facing children in foster care and continues to give back every chance she gets," said Loraine Smith, Chair of the Compound Foundation and Ne-Yo's mom.

With Ne-Yo as the founder and spokesperson, the Compound Foundation is raising money to support Compound Cares. The new project focuses on utilizing the best care practices for children growing up in state custody and providing grants to independent licensed care providers with 6 or more children under their care. "They [foster moms] wake up each morning and go about the day's activities selflessly; sometimes forsaking their own needs," said Ne-Yo, who's real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith. With plans for expansion, this past year the Compound Foundation reached thousands of kids in state care through programs in major urban cities such as Nevada, Maryland, New York, Florida, Georgia and D.C.

This is an invitation only event for foster mothers who have been identified by DHR Division of Family and Children Services to have a positive record of service to children in Georgia, and guests of the Compound Foundation. "Our hope is that we can give the moms a great time and make them feel the appreciation we all have for all that they do," said Reynell Hay, co-Founder of the Compound Foundation.
